Question bow fishing chair

i am the soon to be owner of a 2008 170dc. the boat has a lot of options except the mounting bracket for a bow mounted fishing seat. the dealer told me that he would have to order a completely new boat(for a whole lot more money) if i wanted this option, because none of the boats he had in stock had the factory installed bracket. i was told that the factory beefs-up this area if the bow monted seat is ordered and that you cannot order a bracket or seat from the dealer or factory. does anyone know if this is true? i would love to have a bow chair to use with the trolling motor, especially one that matched the rest of the interior, but i would not want a permanently attached pedistal seat. thanks

I attached a picture of the seat I installed on my 170CC a few weeks ago. Not sure if the attachment worked. There would be a problem putting a flush mount base in as there is a stringer in the way of your cutting the hole. I mounted mine on top the deck Not as pretty as I hoped but it is real strong. perfect with the trolling motor.

I find that a little strange since years ago (2002), I ordered and then had modified (made longer) by a welder a 170 pedestal seat mount for use in a 210 So you should be able to order the part...

Now as far as the factory beefing up the hull to support one I would not know... All of the 170's I have looked at it do not "appear" as if they had anything different done to install one other than have the mount installed. Call the guys at Merritt Marine to get the "Rest of the Story"

Here's a couple of pics of my front fishing seat on my 170CC...it's all from a kit ordered through my dealer from Triumph:

Nothing special about beefing up the area, just remove the center screw from the deck and screw in the pedestal support. Add the silver bracket and attach with four screws ... done! It's been there for three years of constant use and is just as solid today as it was when I put it in.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck.

Brad mine is a lot like junkmans. You can add a standoff bracket between the pipe and wall for added strength if you want. James
