150CC Motor Choice

I have made the decision to purchase a 150CC for fishing some saltware canals, flats and up the Peace River in Port Charlotte FL. I have two boat choices from two different dealers.

Leftover(new) 2006 150CC w/Yamaha F60 4 stroke
or
2008 150CC w/Yamaha 50hp 2 stoke

Both are very good deals the 2006 leftover cost about $1k more but comes with a bimini top, front fishing seat and bow electric. The 2008 is a base boat with no options.

I was wonder about the performance difference and the weight difference (about 50lbs) between the two motors and will it make a difference in the way the stern sits. Also was there any changes in the boat between the model years?

Thank you for help you can provide.

150 Cc

Barring any major problems, I would say buy the '06. Sounds like a better value. there shouldn't be a performance issue caused by the weight difference.

Joseph: You don't mention if you have ever ran a triump on the flats. Seems we share the same great waterway. I to run the peace and the flats of charlotte harbor being a native of Fl I can tell you I have ran boats of all kind for the last 40+ years and never have I had a better boat for the flats and the chop of the harbor.Which ever choice you make I'm sure you will be a happy man. One quick way to figure it out is to take each for a test run. That' the only way to know for sure. Just my 1/50th of a dollar.

Good luck with your search.

I am a big fan of the yamaha 4 strokes. The are easy to maintain, reliable, and super quiet. Besides too much engine is always better than not enough.

Go with the Yamaha F60 4 stroke, you will be using alot less gas with much more power and speed. And with the price the way it is, you will be saving $$$ in the long run.
