Post Problem with Yamaha 15hp Two stroke

Hello Boaters
I'm new to boating and to websites like this, so keep me right.
I have a problem with my Yamaha 15hp FMH 2 stroke. When in neutral it runs no bother up to maximum revs and in reverse gear it goes as fast as its meant to , I think , so no problems there. Its when I put her in gear that I have the problem. The engine turns over and the maximum speed I can get is about 2mph, a little more than that when in reverse. This problem developed suddenly and It seeems to be a drive problem. Is this a common thing and what;s causing it.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.
Thank you
John Mooney

Sound as though you may have a spun rubber hub in the prop. Time to re-hub or a new prop. Take the prop off and have the hub checked by a good prop shop.
