trim guage

Hey there, I can't tell you how much I love my '02 170 Bass. I have a question, I have a 70 hp Yamaha 2002 model, I bought a trim guage not knowing if the engine had a trim sender (did'nt know about that til I read the instructions!)! Where do I find the sender and where should I look on the motor? If I can't find one, can I buy one and install it?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Philip

My understanding is that on the '02 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke (which I have also BTW) the trim sender is on the port side of the engine mount underneath the engine and above the mount. If you trim the motor all the way up and put the tilt latch in place (safety first) it is a little black lever close to the top of the bracket. I don't have an indicator on my dash but I did question what the black lever was at one time and that is what I was told. Hope this helps.

The sender is on the motor, It's a pink wire, could have a stripe, The plug is usually tucked under the carb. area.
