I use a longer "Rod Saver" velcro strap that is wire tied to the L/F cleat to hold the motor flat when bounceing through the waves. This way I do not have to move / slid down my motor height adjustment lock (as Minn Kota would have you do) just to hold my motor flat. Makes for a very fast way to both secure and deploy the motor.
